Privacy Policy

This policy explains what may be processed when you use Online Display Ruler and how the ruler’s browser storage works.
Scope and information we process
Online Display Ruler is a browser-based screen ruler. The project does not include an account system, server-side measurement database, or advertising integration. On production pages, Google Analytics 4 loads through the Google tag using measurement ID G-HV3WFN752L. Its default configuration sends page-view events; this site does not configure custom analytics events for ruler readings or measurement values. Google processes analytics data under its own policies. Contact form submissions are sent from the browser to EmailJS and then to the email provider connected in its dashboard; they are not submitted to an Online Display Ruler server. The site does not ask you to upload an object, screenshot, or measurement.
Like other websites, the service that hosts the deployed site may process technical request information to deliver and protect it. Depending on the host, that may include an IP address, request time, browser or device details, and requested page. The hosting provider and its retention practices depend on the deployment configuration; consult that provider’s privacy information for details.
Information stored in your browser
When you save calibration, the ruler stores a scale value, calibration method, and a signature based on reported screen width, height, and device-pixel ratio in local storage under online-display-ruler-calibration-v1. This lets the page restore calibration and alert you if the reported screen changes. The app reads the browser’s screen dimensions and device-pixel ratio to perform these features; it does not send them to an Online Display Ruler backend.
Your light or dark theme choice is also stored in local storage under online-display-ruler-theme. These browser-local values may persist across reloads and visits in the same browser profile. They are not synchronized between devices. Clear this site’s browser storage or use the calibration reset control to remove the calibration value. If storage is disabled, calibration can be used for the current visit but may not persist.
Cookies and similar technologies
The site does not read cookie values itself. Google Analytics may use first-party cookies to distinguish browsers and sessions. Local storage is separate from cookies and is used for the ruler preferences described above. Browser settings and privacy extensions may limit analytics cookies or requests.
Analytics, advertising, and third parties
Google Analytics is loaded on production pages to measure page traffic. Google may receive page URLs, referrers, browser and device information, and analytics identifiers associated with page-view measurement. For details about Google’s processing, review Google’s Privacy Policy. No advertising scripts, including Google AdSense, are included, and the application does not intentionally serve ads. No consent-management platform is currently configured for this analytics tag.
The project has no configured third-party runtime integration for ruler measurements. If a deployment platform, embedded service, or external link is added, that provider’s own privacy terms may apply to its service.
Contact messages and retention
When you submit the contact form, your name, email address, selected subject, message, and submission time are transmitted to EmailJS, then processed by the email provider connected to the site’s EmailJS account. The form is available only when its service, template, and public key are configured for the build. The EmailJS form is configured for this build. EmailJS and the connected email provider may retain or process this information under their own policies. Keep sensitive information out of general support requests.
Browser-stored preferences remain until you clear them or the browser removes them. The site does not control how long a hosting provider retains operational logs or how long email providers retain messages.
Security
The project keeps ruler calibration and theme preferences in the browser and does not upload measurement points. No method of transmitting or storing information is completely secure. Review the privacy and security practices of your browser, email provider, and the site’s hosting provider.
External links
If the site links to another website, that website operates under its own policies. This policy does not describe the practices of external services.
Children’s privacy
The ruler is a general-purpose utility and is not designed to request personal information from children. The site does not include an account or child-directed submission flow.
Your privacy choices and requests
Depending on where you live, local privacy laws may provide rights to request access to, correction of, or deletion of personal information, or to object to or limit certain processing. Those rights and exceptions vary. For browser-local data, you can clear this site’s storage directly in your browser. For a privacy request about information held by the host or an email provider, use the contact channel shown on the Contact Us page or contact that provider.
Changes to this policy
This policy may be updated if the application, hosting, analytics, advertising, or contact options change. The review date above indicates when this version was prepared; check this page for the current text.
